Dr. Julia Bonks is a board certified pediatric dentist with nearly 20 years of experience. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Columbia University and completed her pediatric specialty training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Originally from Latvia, Dr. Bonks came to the United States at age 12. She speaks fluent Russian, some Spanish, and understands Ukrainian and Polish.
From the very beginning of dental school, Dr. Bonks knew she wanted to work with children, perhaps because of her own scary childhood dental experiences. She especially enjoys helping anxious children and kids with special healthcare needs. Her approach is to treat each child as her own. That philosophy guides the way she cares for every patient. Dr. Bonks holds hospital privileges at Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital, where she provides dental care under sedation.
Outside of work, Dr. Bonks is a mom to two kids in their early teens, so life is always busy. She loves spending time with her kids exploring new places, visiting farmers markets, museums and staying active together. Dr. Bonks also enjoys reading, being near the water, trying new recipes, decorating (especially with candles), and has a soft spot for animals. She looks forward to helping make each dental visit a positive experience. Let’s smile together!
